友にあふて（会うて）礼あれとは 友達の一日に十度・二十度来れる（きたれる）人なりとも 千里・二千里・来れる人の如く（ごとく）思ふて（おもうて）礼儀いささか・をろか（おろか、疎か）に思うべからず

上野殿御消息（１５２７頁）建治元年

通解

友に会ったら礼儀正しくあれ、というのは、友達で一日に１０回、２０回と訪ねてくる人であっても、千里・二千里の遠くから訪ねてきた人のように思って、少しも礼儀をおろそかにしてはならない。


意訳

友に会ったら礼儀正しくあれ、という意味は、一日に何度も会うような仲の良い友達であっても、遠くからわざわざ会いに来てくれた友達のように、礼儀正しく誠実に接していくことを忘れてはならない。
