あへて法華経の御とがにては候べからず - It is in no sense the fault of the Lotus Sutra.

御（おん）いのりの叶い（かない）候は（そうらわ）ざらんは弓（ゆみ）のつよく（強く）してつる（絃）よはく（弱く）・太刀（たち）つるぎ（剣）にて・つかう人の臆病（おくびょう）なるやうにて候べし、あへて法華経の御とが（おん とが）にては候べからず
王舎城事（１１３８頁）建治元年４月

 通解

祈りが叶わないのは、弓が強いのに絃が弱く、太刀や剣があっても、使う人が臆病なようなものである。決して法華経の失（とが）によるものではない。
意訳

 祈りが叶わないのは、法華経という強い弓があっても、それを信じる心という弓の鉉が弱く、妙法の利剣という最強の剣があっても、相手の間違いや自分の弱さを正そうという勇気がなく臆病で弱い心を持っているからである。
強盛で勇気ある信心を引き出し、祈るという姿勢がないからであって、決して法華経のせいではない。

The fact that her prayers have gone unanswered is like a strong bow with a weak bowstring, or a fine sword in the hands of a coward. It is in no sense the fault of the Lotus Sutra.

 Interpretation (liberal translation)

 Even if the bowstring called the heart to believe is weak, and there is the strongest sword called the sword of the marvelous law of Buddha even if it has the strong bow called the Lotus Sutra that prayer does not come true, it is caused by the heart that I am timid and am coward, and is weak that it is said to correct the mistake of the partner and one's weakness.
It is caused by the fact that there is not the posture that I strongly draw courageous faith and pray for and is never the fault of the Lotus Sutra.
