本文 凡夫は我が心に迷うて知らず覚らざるなり、仏は之を悟り顕わして神通と名くるなり神通とは神の一切の法に通じて礙無きなり、此の自在の神通は一切の有情の心にて有るなり故に狐狸も分分に通を現ずること皆心の神の分分の悟なり 三世諸仏総勘文教相廃立 (563頁) 弘安2年10月 (1279年) 通解(意訳) 凡夫は、自身の心が迷っている事を知らないので、自身に仏性が備わっている事を悟らないのである。釈迦仏は、心の働きを悟りあらわして、神通(じんずう)と名づけたのである。  神通とは、神(魂・たましい、と読む)が一切の法に通じていて、一切の障り(礙り・さわり:妨げ)が無く、無限の可能性を秘めていることをいうのである。この、自由自在の神通力は、一切の有情(うじょう)の心に具わっている。ゆえに、狐や狸などがそれぞれに神通力をあらわすことは皆、心の神(たましい)をそれぞれ悟っているからなのである。 English Gosho  The ordinary mortal is confused about the nature of his own mind, and remains unenlightened.
