人身は受けがたし爪の上の土・人身は持ちがたし草の上の露 - It is rare to be born a human being. The number of those endowed with human life is as small as the amount of earth one can place on a fingernail.

人身は（じんしん は）受けがたし 爪の上の土・人身は持ち（たもち）がたし 草の上の露（つゆ）、百二十まで持ちて 名を（な を）・くたして（腐して）死せんよりは生きて一日なりとも名をあげん事こそ大切なれ

 通解

人間として生まれてくることは難しいことであって、爪の上に乗っているわずかな土のようにまれである。また、人間として生まれたとしてもその身を持つことは難しく、草の上に乗っている朝露がすぐに蒸発してしまうようにはかない。
たとえ１２０歳まで身を持ったとしても、悪い評判を残して死ぬよりは、生きて一日でも名をあげることこそ大切である。

 意訳

人間として生まれてきた事そのものが極めて難しく、また尊いものである。その一生を、ただ生きるだけではあまりに無意味である。
意義ある人生にするためには、意義ある一日を生き抜く事が大切であり、その積み重ねが「どう生きたか」を決定づけることにつながるのである。

It is rare to be born a human being. The number of those endowed with human life is as small as the amount of earth one can place on a fingernail. Life as a human being is hard to sustain—as hard as it is for the dew to remain on the grass. But it is better to live a single day with honor than to live to 120 and die in disgrace.

 Interpretation (liberal translation)

 It is extremely difficult to have been born as a human being, also it is precious thing. The lifetime is the only live just is too meaningless.
In order to make meaningful life is important to live one day some significance, it is lead to that the stack is determining the "what it was my life."
