只一遍なんど唱えても軽重の悪に引かれずして四悪趣におもむかずついに不退の位にいたるべしや - once in a lifetime, to avoid being drawn into trivial or serious acts of evil, to escape falling into the four evil paths, and instead to eventually reach the stage of non-regression?
南無妙法蓮華経
問うて云く 法華経の意をも しらず（知らず） 只（ただ）南無妙法蓮華経と計り（ばかり）五字七字に限りて 一日に一遍（いっぺん） 一月 乃至（ないし） 一年 十年 一期生（いち ごしょう）の間に 只一遍なんど唱えても 軽重の悪（きょうじゅう の あく）に引かれずして 四悪趣（しあくしゅ）に おもむかず ついに不退の位（ふたい の くらい）に いたるべしや、
答えて云くしかるべきなり

通解（意訳）南無妙法蓮華経
問うて言う。法華経の意味も知らず、ただ南無妙法蓮華経とだけ五字七字の題目ばかりを、一日に一遍、一月あるいは一年、十年、一生の間に、ただの一遍だけ唱えたとしても、過去世での軽重の悪業に引かれずに、地獄界、餓鬼界、畜生界、修羅界の四悪趣に堕ちないで、ついには不退転の位に到達することができるのか。
答えて言う。いかにもそのとおりである。
