仏と申す事も我等の心の内に をはします（おわします）・譬へば（たとえば）石の中に火あり 珠の中に財のあるがごとし、我等 凡夫は まつげの ちかき（近き）と虚空の とをき（遠き）とは見候（みえ そうろう）事なし、我等が心の内に仏は をはしましけるを 知り候はざりけるぞ

通解（意訳）
　
仏というのも私達の心のなかにいらっしゃるのである。たとえば、火打ち石の中に火種の元があり、珠の原石の中に財宝があるようなものである。我ら凡夫は、まつげが近くにある事と、虚空が遠くにある事は見ることができない。同じように、私達の心の中に仏がおられるのを知らないでいたのである。

The Buddha dwells within our hearts. For example, flint has the potential to produce fire, and gems have intrinsic value. We ordinary people can see neither our own eyelashes, which are so close, nor the heavens in the distance. Likewise, we do not see that the Buddha exists in our own hearts.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
