大海へ衆流入る・されども大海は河の水を返す事ありや、法華大海の行者に諸河の水は大難の如く入れども・かへす事とがむる事なし、諸河の水入る事なくば大海あるべからず、大難なくば法華経の行者にはあらじ

通解（意訳）
　
大海には様々な河水が流れこむ。けれども、大海は河水を押し返すようなことがあるだろうか。
法華経という大海の行者には、様々な河水のように大難として流れ込むが、大難を押し返すことも、とがめたりすることもない。河水が入ることがなければ、大海はないからである。同じように、大難がなければ法華経の行者ではないのである。
　
　
English Translations

" A Ship to Cross the Sea of Suffering "
　
 All rivers flow into the sea, but does the sea turn back their waters?
 The currents of hardship pour into the sea of the Lotus Sutra and rush against its votary. The river is not rejected by the ocean; nor does the votary reject suffering. Were it not for the flowing rivers, there would be no sea.
Likewise, without tribulation there would be no votary of the Lotus Sutra.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
