源濁りぬれば流浄からず 身曲りぬれば影直かず

通解（意訳）
　
源流が濁っていれば、その流れは清らかではない。身体が曲がれば、その影も真っすぐにはならない。
同じように、法華経以外の諸教を、いくら純粋に学び修行して、疑う心がないとしても、その教えの元祖が、間違った解釈や我見で考えだした邪法であれば、その人も正法を誹謗し、同じように大悪を犯していることになるのである。

" Letter to the Lay Priest Ichinosawa "
　
 If the source is muddy, the stream will not flow clear; if the body is bent, the shadow will not be straight.
[ In the same way, A person trains himself/herself by other teaching except the Lotus Sutra purely, However, it is a mistake if it is the interpretation that an ancestor of the teaching got a wrong and the evil doctrine that I devised personally.
 Because the cause is wrong, the person believing the law slanders teachings of Buddha and will violate a great evil in the same way. ]

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
