日蓮といゐし者は去年九月十二日子丑の時に頚はねられぬ、此れは魂魄・佐土の国にいたり
 
開目抄・下(225頁) 文永9年2月
通解(意訳)
 
日蓮というものは、去年の九月十二日・子丑の時に
竜の口において首をはねられた。
これは、凡夫の姿は竜の口において断ち切られ、自分こそが、末法において南無妙法蓮華経を顕し弘める、地湧の菩薩のリーダーである「久遠元初の自受用報身如来」として目覚め、佐渡へ渡ったのである。
 
English Translations


" The Opening of the Eyes " Part Two

 
On the twelfth day of the ninth month of last year, between the hours of the rat and the ox (11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.), this person named Nichiren was beheaded. It is his soul that has come to this island of Sado

Interpretation (liberal translation)
 
This person named Nichiren was beheaded. The form of the ordinary person is cut off in The Tatsunokuchi , and this meaning is awaken in the being the leader of a bodhisattva of the Earth who publicizes and propagates Nam - myoho - renge - kyo in a sinful age and has passed to Sado.
