余に三度のかうみようあり - The Selection of the Time

外典に曰く（げてん に いわく）未萠（みぼう）を しる（知る）を聖人（しょうにん）という 内典（ないてん）に云く（いわく）三世（さんぜ）を知るを聖人という 余（よ）に三度のかうみよう（高名）あり

通解

仏教以外の外道の経典には、「将来に起きる事を知っている者を聖人という」とある。仏教の経典には「過去、現在、未来の三世を知るのを聖人という」とある。
日蓮には、三度の功績がある。


意訳

仏教以外の経典には、「将来起きる事を知っている者を聖人という」と書いてある。
仏教の経典には、「三世永遠の生命哲学を知る者を聖人という」と書いてある。
日蓮は、法華経に照らしあわせた上で、「国が間違った宗教を用れば、必ず内乱（自界叛逆難）と他国からの襲撃（他国侵逼難）が起こる」と警告した。
そしてそのとおり、二度の蒙古襲来（他国侵逼難）と、時の権力者である北条一門の同士討ちである二月騒動（自界叛逆難）が起きた。
このように日蓮には、これら三度の予言が的中したという大きな功績がある。


English Translations

" The Selection of the Time "

In the secular texts it says, “A sage is one who fully understands those things that have not yet made their appearance.” And in the Buddhist texts it says, “A sage is one who knows the three existences of life—past, present, and future.”

Three times now I have gained distinction by having such knowledge.

Interpretation (liberal translation)

It's written on a scripture besides the Buddhism "The person who knows to get up in the future is called a saint."
It's written on a Buddhist scripture "The person who knows life philosophy of the Third eternity is called a saint."
After comparing with a Lotus Sutra, Nichiren warned "When a country did government by a wrong religion, a rebellion and a maraud from an other country happened certainly."
And as it, twice's Mongolian attack ( a maraud from an other country ) and February turmoil which is internecine strife of the Hojo family who is the power at time ( a rebellion ) have occurred.
Thus these have the big achievements a mark three times of prediction hit for Nichiren.
