其の故は法華経の命を継ぐ人なればと思うなり - for I am convinced that you are a person who can inherit the soul of the Lotus Sutra.

さきざきよりも百千万億倍・御用心あるべし。
日蓮は少（わかき）より今生の（こんじょう の）いのり（祈り）なし 只（ただ）仏にならんと をもふ（思う）計り（ばかり）なり、されども殿の御事（おんこと）をば・ひまなく法華経・釈迦仏・日天に申すなり 其の故（そのゆえ）は法華経の命を継ぐ人なればと思うなり。
四条金吾殿御返事（世雄御書）（１１６９頁）　建治三年

 通解

 （今はあなた：四条金吾の身に危険がある時であるから）以前より百千万億倍、用心していきなさい。日蓮は若い時から、自分の今生の繁栄を祈ったことはない。ただ、仏になろうと祈るばかりである。しかしながら、四条金吾殿の事は、絶えず法華経、釈迦仏、日天子に祈っている。その理由は、あなたが法華経の命を継ぐ人だと思うからである。
English Translations

 " The Hero of the World "

 be millions of times more careful than ever.
Since childhood, I, Nichiren, have never prayed for the secular things of this life but have single-mindedly sought to become a Buddha.
Of late, however, I have been ceaselessly praying for your sake to the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha, and the god of the sun, for I am convinced that you are a person who can inherit the soul of the Lotus Sutra.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
