 日蓮御房は師匠にておはせども余にこはし 我等はやはらかに法華経を弘むべしと云んは螢火が日月をわらひ 蟻塚が華山を下し井江が河海をあなづり 烏鵲が鸞鳳をわらふなるべし わらふなるべし

通解

（愚かな者が）「日蓮御房は私達の師匠ではあられるが、余りにも強盛すぎる。我らは柔らかに法華経を弘めよう」と言っていることは、ホタルの光が太陽や月の光を笑い、蟻塚が華山（約２ｋｍある中国の山）を見下し、井戸や小川が大河や海を侮り、カササギが鸞鳥や鳳凰（伝説上の鳥）を笑うようなものである。笑うようなものである。


English Translations

"  Letter from Sado "

The renegade disciples say, “Though the priest Nichiren is our teacher, he is too forceful. We will spread the Lotus Sutra in a more peaceful way.” In so asserting, they are being as ridiculous as fireflies laughing at the sun and moon, an anthill belittling Mount Hua, [ About 6562 feet of Chinese famous mountain ] wells and brooks despising the river and the ocean, or a magpie mocking a phoenix.
