愚者の持ちたる金も智者の持ちたる金も・愚者の然せる火も智者の然せる火も其の差別なきなり - The gold that a fool possesses is no different from the gold that a wise man possesses; a fire made by a fool is the same as a fire made by a wise man.

聖人の唱えさせ給う 題目の功徳と 我れ等が唱へ申す 題目の功徳と 何程の多少（いかほど の たしょう） 候べきやと云云（うんぬん）、更に勝劣（しょうれつ）あるべからず候、

通解
「大聖人が唱えられる題目の功徳と、凡夫である私達が唱える題目の功徳とは、いかほどの違いがあるのでしょうか」とのご質問があったが、題目の功徳には勝劣や差別はなく、同じ功徳がある。

 その理由は、愚者が持っているお金も、智者が持っているお金も、お金には変わりないように、または愚者が灯す火も、智者が灯す火も、火には変わりなく、その差別はないようなものである。

"How great is the difference between the blessings received when a sage chants the daimoku and the blessings received when we chant it?” To reply, one is in no way superior to the other.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
