人の身には左右のかた あり、このかたに二つの神 をはします  一 をば 同名・二 をば 同生と申す、此の二つの神は梵天・帝釈・日月の 人を まほらせんがために 母の腹の内に入りしより このかた 一生 をわるまで 影のごとく 眼のごとく・つき随いて候が、人の 悪をつくり  善をなしなむどし候をば・つゆ ちり ばかりも・のこさず 天にうたへ まいらせ候なるぞ。

通解（意訳）
　
人の身体の左右には肩がある。この両肩に二つの神がおられる。一を同名（どうみょう）・二を同生（どうしょう）という。この二神は梵天・帝釈・日月等の諸天善神が、人を守らせるためにつけた神で、母の胎内に宿った時から一生を終るまで、影のように、眼のようにつき随っているのであるが、その者が悪行をしたり、善行をしたことなどを、露・塵ほども残さず、全てを諸天に訴えるのである。

" The Unity of Husband and Wife "
　
 A person’s body has a left and a right shoulder, on which there are two gods, one called Same Name and the other, Same Birth. These are two deities whom Brahmā, Shakra, and the gods of the sun and moon have assigned to protect each person.
 From the time we enter our mother’s womb until the end of our life, they accompany us like our shadow or like our eyes. If we commit an evil act or perform a good deed, they report everything to the heavenly gods without omitting even a detail as minute as a dewdrop or a speck of dust.
