人の心は水の器に したがふ（したがう）が如く（ごとく）物の性は月の波に動くに似たり、故に汝（ゆえ に なんじ）当座は信ず（とうざ は しんず）と いふとも（言う とも）後日は必ず翻へさん（ひるがえさん） 魔来り 鬼来るとも 騒乱する事なかれ

通解（意訳）
　
人の心は、水の形が器の形にしたがって変わるようなものであり、物の性質は、水上に映っている月影が、波の動きに合わせて揺らめくのに似ている。
同じように、人の心も移ろいやすいものであるから、今、法門を聞いたばかりのあなたは、しばらくは法華経を信ずると言っても、後日になってから必ず心が揺り動くであろう。
しかし、それは信心をやめさせようとする魔の仕業であるから、日々の信心にこの事を覚悟しておいて、魔が来ても鬼が来ても、その時になって騒ぎ立てるようであってはならない。

 The human heart is like water that assumes the shape of whatever vessel it occupies, and the nature of beings is like the reflection of the moon undulating on the waves.
 Now you insist that you will be firm in this faith, but another day you are bound to waver.
 Though devils and demons may come to tempt you, you must not allow yourself to be distracted.

本文 人に物をほどこせば 我が身のたすけとなる、 譬へば 人のために火をともせば・我が まへあきらかなるがごとし 食物三徳御書 （１５９８頁） 年月不明 通解（意訳） 人に物を施せば、かえって我が身を助けることに繋がる。 例えば、人のために灯をともしてあげれば、自分の前も明るくなるようなものである。 菩薩の心の信心 「人のため」（利他のため）だけを言うと、傲慢になる。「人を救ってあげている」偽善になる。 自分のためにもなっている事を自覚して、初めて『修行させてもらっている』『学ばせてもらっている』という謙虚さが出る。 自他不二です。 人のために尽くしただけ、自分の生命に福運が積まれる。これが『菩薩道』なのです。 - 池田大作 English Gosho  If one gives food to others, one will improve one’s own lot,  just as,  for example, if one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way. 蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
