釈迦仏と法華経の文字とはかはれども心は一つなり、　然れば法華経の文字を拝見せさせ給うは生身の釈迦如来にあひ進らせたりと・おぼしめすべし

釈尊と現在の法華経とは、言語は変わっているけれども、その真髄はただ南無妙法蓮華経一つに変わりはないのである。そうであれば、法華経の文字を拝見する時は、生身の釈迦如来にお会いするのと同じことだと思いなさい。

Shakyamuni Buddha and the written words of the Lotus Sutra are two different things, but their heart is one [ only Nam-myoho-renge-kyo ]. Therefore, when you cast your eyes upon the words of the Lotus Sutra, you should consider that you are beholding the living body of the Thus Come One Shakyamuni.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
