この衣をつくりて かたびらを きそえて 法華経をよみて候わば 日蓮は 無戒の比丘なり 法華経は正直の金言なり、毒蛇の珠をはき 伊蘭の栴檀を いだすがごとし

ご供養に頂いた布でこの衣をつくり、帷子（かたびら、裏を付けない衣服。ひとえもの）を着そろえて法華経を読み奉るならば、日蓮は凡夫の僧であるが、法華経は仏の正直の金言であるから、毒蛇が毒ではなく宝珠を吐き、強い悪臭がある伊蘭の中から、芳香を放つ栴檀が生ずるように、大功徳を生ずるのである。
そしてこの功徳は、ご供養されたあなた方にも返っていくのである。

 English Translations

" Cloth for a Robe and an Unlined Robe "
　
I will have this robe made from your cloth, will wear the unlined robe as well, and will recite the Lotus Sutra. When I do so, though I am a monk without precepts, because the Lotus Sutra is a work of honest and upright golden words, it will be as if a poisonous snake were to spit up a gem, or sandalwood trees were to grow up among the eranda.
[ Thus , I receive the huge benefits from the Lotus sutra. and these blessings is returning to you who made offerings. ]

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
