法華経と申す御経は身心の諸病の良薬なり、されば経に云く「此の経は則ち為 閻浮提の人の病の良薬なり 若し 人 病有らんに 是の経を聞くことを得 ば病即消滅して不老不死ならん」等云云

通解（意訳）
　
法華経という御経は身心の諸々の病の良薬である。そうであるから、法華経薬王品第２３に「この経はすなわちこれ、閻浮提（えんぶだい＝全世界）の人の病の良薬である。もし人が病であっても、この経を聞き、発心して信心に励むことができれば、病はすぐに治って、不老不死となるであろう」等とある。

" On the Importance of the “Expedient Means” and “Life Span” Chapters "
　
 The sutra known as the Lotus Sutra is good medicine for the various ills of body and mind.
 Thus it states: “This sutra provides good medicine for the ills of the people of Jambudvīpa. If a person who has an illness is able to hear* this sutra, then his illness will be wiped out and he will know neither old age nor death.”
*[ " When you can hear this sutra, make up your mind and apply yourself to faith" ]

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
