只須く汝仏にならんと思はば慢のはたほこをたをし忿りの杖をすてて偏に一乗に帰すべし、名聞名利は今生のかざり我慢偏執は後生のほだしなり

通解（意訳）
　
あなたがただ仏になろうと思うならば、慢心という旗鉾を倒し、怒りという杖を捨てて、ひとえに一乗の法華経に帰依すべきである。名聞名利は今生だけの飾りであり、それらに我慢や偏執していては、来世には何の役にも立たず、ただ成仏への足かせにしかならないのである。

" Questions and Answers about Embracing the Lotus Sutra "
　
 Now, if you wish to attain Buddhahood, you have only to lower the banner of your arrogance, cast aside the staff of your anger, and devote yourself exclusively to the one vehicle of the Lotus Sutra.
 Worldly fame and profit are mere baubles of your present existence, and arrogance and prejudice are ties that will fetter you in the next one.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
