何として都の月をば詠め候べき - how can you admire the moon over the capital?

鎌倉より京へは十二日の道なり、それを十一日余り歩をはこびて今一日に成りて歩をさしをきては何として都の月をば詠め候べき
　
新池御書（１４４０頁）　弘安３年２月
通解（意訳）
　
鎌倉から京都へは１２日の道のりである。それを１１日ほど歩いて、あと１日になって歩くのをやめてしまったら、どうして都の月をながめることができようか。
信心も同様である。
信心を始めたとしても、途中で信心をやめて退転してしまえば、成仏への直道を閉ざすばかりか、謗法の罪を犯す事になるのである。

English Translations

" Letter to Niike "
　
The journey from Kamakura to Kyoto takes twelve days. If you travel for eleven but stop with only one day remaining, how can you admire the moon over the capital?
[ The belief is also same. When stopping belief on the way even if belief is begun, it'll be to commit the sin which slanders the Lotus Sutra;Nichiren Buddhism, as well as closing the way to attainment the Buddhahood. ]

本文 人に物をほどこせば 我が身のたすけとなる、 譬へば 人のために火をともせば・我が まへあきらかなるがごとし 食物三徳御書 （１５９８頁） 年月不明 通解（意訳） 人に物を施せば、かえって我が身を助けることに繋がる。 例えば、人のために灯をともしてあげれば、自分の前も明るくなるようなものである。 菩薩の心の信心 「人のため」（利他のため）だけを言うと、傲慢になる。「人を救ってあげている」偽善になる。 自分のためにもなっている事を自覚して、初めて『修行させてもらっている』『学ばせてもらっている』という謙虚さが出る。 自他不二です。 人のために尽くしただけ、自分の生命に福運が積まれる。これが『菩薩道』なのです。 - 池田大作 English Gosho  If one gives food to others, one will improve one’s own lot,  just as,  for example, if one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way. 湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
