いよいよ・はげまして法華経の功徳を得給うべし、師曠（しこう ）が耳・離婁（りろう）が眼のやうに聞見させ給へ
　
椎地四郎殿御書（如度得船御書）

通解（意訳）
　
いよいよ信心に励んで、法華経の功徳である、「六根清浄（ろっこん しょうじょう）」の功徳を受けきっていきなさい。そして、清らかな耳と目で、世の中で起こる様々な出来事の正邪の真実を聞き分け、見抜く力を身につけなさい。

 ＊六根清浄
　人間の心身を、眼根（げんこん）・耳根（にこん）・鼻根（びこん）・舌根（ぜっこん）・身根（しんこん）・意根（いこん）の、６種類の感覚に分けた仏法の考え方。法華経を信受することで心身が浄化され、元来持っている自分の能力（六根の力）を最大限に発揮することができる。

 ＊師曠（しこう）・中国の音楽家であり、少しの音色の違いを聞き分ける事ができた。 
　離婁（りろう）・同じく中国の伝説上の人物で、百歩離れた先の人の、細かい毛まで見えた。

" A Ship to Cross the Sea of Suffering "
　
You should therefore strive in faith more than ever to receive the blessings of the Lotus Sutra. Listen with the ears of Shih K’uang and observe with the eyes of Li Lou. [ catch a matter correctly by the excellent ear which tells right and wrong and the clear eye by which you see through the truth. ]

*[ Shih K’uang, in Chinese legend, was a court musician whose sense of hearing was so keen that he could judge the quality of a newly cast bell, where ordinary musicians could not.
 Li Lou’s sight was so acute that he could see the tip of a hair at a hundred paces. ]
