通解（意訳）
　
一丈の幅の堀を超えられない者が、十丈、二十丈の堀を超えることができようか。
何事も成就するには、小さな挑戦とその勝利の繰り返しが、無理だと思われる困難を乗り越え、勝利をつかむ事ができるのである。

If a person cannot manage to cross a moat ten feet wide, how can he cross one that is a hundred or two hundred feet?
[It's possible to get over the difficulty by which a repeat of a small challenge and the victory seems impossible and grasp a victory to accomplish everything.]

本文 人に物をほどこせば 我が身のたすけとなる、 譬へば 人のために火をともせば・我が まへあきらかなるがごとし 食物三徳御書 （１５９８頁） 年月不明 通解（意訳） 人に物を施せば、かえって我が身を助けることに繋がる。 例えば、人のために灯をともしてあげれば、自分の前も明るくなるようなものである。 菩薩の心の信心 「人のため」（利他のため）だけを言うと、傲慢になる。「人を救ってあげている」偽善になる。 自分のためにもなっている事を自覚して、初めて『修行させてもらっている』『学ばせてもらっている』という謙虚さが出る。 自他不二です。 人のために尽くしただけ、自分の生命に福運が積まれる。これが『菩薩道』なのです。 - 池田大作 English Gosho  If one gives food to others, one will improve one’s own lot,  just as,  for example, if one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way. 蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
