御身は佐渡の国にをはせども心は此の国に来れり - Though you remain in Sado, your heart has come to this province.

天月は四万由旬なれども大地の池には須臾に影浮び雷門の鼓は千万里遠けれども打ちては須臾に聞ゆ、
御身は佐渡の国にをはせども心は此の国に来れり、
仏に成る道も此くの如し、我等は穢土に候へども心は霊山に住べし、御面を見てはなにかせん心こそ大切に候へ
てんまん は よんまん ゆじゅん なれども だいち の いけ には しゅゆ に かげ うかび らいもん の つづみ は せんまん り とおけれども うち ては しゅゆ に きこゆ、

通解（意訳）
天の月ははるか遠くに離れているけれども、月が上れば大地の池にはすぐに影が浮かび、雷門の鼓は万里の遠くにあっても打てばすぐに聞こえる。あなたの身体は佐渡の国にいらっしゃるけれども、心はこの国に来られている。
仏に成る道もこのような事である。我等は穢土に住んではいるが、心は霊山浄土に住んでいる。お顔だけを拝見したからといって、なんになるだろう。
遠く離れていても、求道心あふれる心こそ大切なのである。

英語で御書
Gosho in English
Though the moon is forty thousand yojanas [ feet ] high in the heavens, its reflection appears instantly in a pond on earth; and the sound of the drum at the Gate of Thunder is immediately heard a thousand, ten thousand ri [ miles ] in the distance.
Though you remain in Sado, your heart has come to this province.
The way of attaining Buddhahood is just like this. Though we live in the impure land, our hearts reside in the pure land of Eagle Peak.
Merely seeing each other’s face would in itself be insignificant. It is the heart that is important.
