夫れ未萠を知る者は六正の聖臣なり法華を弘むる者は諸仏の使者なり、
而るに日蓮忝くも鷲嶺・鶴林の文を開いて鵝王・烏瑟の志を覚り剰え将来を勘えたるに粗符合することを得たり先哲に及ばずと雖も定んで後人には希なる可き者なり
それ みぼう を しる もの は りくせい の せいしん なり ほっけ を ひろむる もの は しょぶつ の ししゃ なり、

未萠を知る者は、「六正の聖臣」といって、未来の危機を察知し、未然に封じて君主に仕える最高地位である。法華経を弘める者は、諸仏の使者である。
それにもかかわらず、日蓮は、おそれ多くも釈尊が霊鷲山で説いた法華経や、入滅の前に鶴林で説いた涅槃経の文を開いて、仏の本意を覚った。それだけではなく、日本国の将来をこれらの経典に照らし合わせて考えたところ、蒙古襲来や内乱（他国侵逼難・自界叛逆難）がほぼ符合している事を得た。これらのことは、（日蓮は）先哲には及ばないとはいえ、後の将来には希な人となるべき者である。

Interpretation (liberal translation)
A person who can foretell the future is known as a sage minister, the highest of the six upright ones. A person who propagates the Lotus Sutra is a votary of the Buddhas.

 And I make bold to declare that, opening the texts delivered on Eagle Peak [;Lotus Sutra]  and in the grove of sal trees [; Nirvana Sutra], I have come to understand the intentions of the web-footed king, he who bore a knot of flesh [: refers to a Buddha.] 
Furthermore, what I predicted with regard to the future has now for the most part been verified.[: Other countries' aggression, or the civil war]
Although I may be no match for the wise men of past ages, among men of this latter age, my kind is rarely to be found.
