今 此の筒の御器は 固く厚く候上・漆 浄く候へば 法華経の御信力の 堅固なる事を顕し給うか

通解（意訳）
信心の心が完全であれば、仏が一切衆生を差別なく平等に救済する、広く大きな智慧（仏智）という水は乾くことはない。
今度ご供養で頂いた筒のうつわものは、固く厚みもありしっかりしている上に、漆も清らかなのは、あなたの信心が堅固である事が表れているのであろうか。

Now these vessels that you have sent me are sturdy and thick, and in addition they are coated with pure lacquer. They symbolize the firmness and sturdiness of the power of your faith in the Lotus Sutra.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
