一念無明の迷信は 磨かざる鏡 なるべし、是を 磨かかば 必ず 法性真如の明鏡と 成るべし、
深く 信心を発して 日夜朝暮に 又 懈らず 磨くべし
何様にしてか 磨くべき 只 南無妙法蓮華経と唱へたてまつるを 是を みがく とは云うなり
いちねん むみょう の めいしん は みがかざる かがみ なるべし、これ を みがかば かならず ほっしょう しんにょ の めいきょう と なるべし、
ふかく しんじん を ほっして にちや ちょうぼ に また おこたらず みがくべし
いかよう に してか みがく べき ただ なんみょうほうれんげきょう と となえ たてまつる を これ を みがく とは いうなり

通解（意訳）
一念無明の迷信とは、悩みや苦しみ等によって迷っている心の状態であり、まだ磨いていない鏡のようなものである。この鏡を磨けば、必ず仏性という本来生命に備わっている仏の生命（法性真如：仏界）を開き、明るく輝く鏡となるのである。
 深く信心を起こして、昼も夜も、朝も夕も、また怠らずに磨いていきなさい。
では、どのように磨けばよいのか。ただ南無妙法蓮華経と唱えること、これを（生命という鏡を）磨くというのである。

A mind now clouded by the illusions of the innate darkness of life is like a tarnished mirror, but when polished, it is sure to become like a clear mirror, reflecting the essential nature of phenomena and the true aspect of reality.
Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish our mirror day and night.
How should you polish it ?
Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
