妙法蓮華経の五字をば地涌千界の上首・　上行等の四人にこそ仰せつけられて候へ・只事の心を案ずるに日蓮が道をたすけんと上行菩薩・　貴辺の御身に入りかはらせ給へるか又教主釈尊の御計いか

通解（意訳）
　
教主釈尊は、末法に入っては妙法蓮華経の五字の弘通を、地涌千界の上首（地涌の菩薩のリーダー）である上行菩薩をはじめ、無辺行菩薩・浄行菩薩・安立行菩薩の四人に仰せつけられたのである。
そこで、今回の事（四条金吾の所領没収と、不退転の決意を示した事）にどのような意味があるかを考えてみるに、日蓮が南無妙法蓮華経の五字七時を弘通する、広宣流布の大道を助けようと、上行菩薩があなたの御身に入り替られたのであろうか。または教主釈尊の御計いか。
大切な妻子があり、さらに所領没収という大難に遭われたのに、信心を貫き通すという御志は、到底言葉に出来ないほど素晴らしい事である。

" A Warning against Begrudging One’s Fief " Reply to Shijo  Kingo
　
 The Buddha wondered whether even bodhisattvas like Universal Worthy and Manjushrī could undertake the propagation of the Lotus Sutra in the latter age, and he therefore entrusted the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo to Superior Practices and the other three leaders of bodhisattvas who had sprung up from the earth as numerous as the dust particles of a thousand worlds.
 Now, pondering the meaning of this matter [ The thing which indicated territory confiscation of Shijo Kingo and the decision which doesn't stop believing.], I wonder if Bodhisattva Superior Practices has taken possession of your body in order to assist me along the way [ of spread Lotus Sutra] . Or could it be the design of Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings?
[ You have a wife and a child. Moreover you met big difficulty of territory confiscation.
But you determined on that you don't abandon your belief harder.

I felt wonderful so that this couldn't be expressed at all. ]

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
