通解（意訳）
　
日蓮は、法華経一部八巻・二十八品の全てを身をもって読んだ。たとえ法華経の一句でも一偈でも身を以って読むことによってでもなお、仏が修行者に対し、将来必ず仏となることを予言し保証を与えるという「受記」を受けているのである。ましてや、法華経全体を身読したのであれば、この日蓮が受ける功徳は莫大であり、ますます頼もしいことである。

" Lessening One's Karmic Retribution "
　
 Nichiren has now read [and lived] the entirety of the Lotus Sutra. Even a single phrase or verse assures one's enlightenment; since I have read the entire sutra, how much more certain is my enlightenment. I am more confident than ever.

Interpretation (liberal translation)
　
 Nichiren read all 8 reels and 28 pieces of a Lotus Sutra by a mind and body. If only one sentence of a Lotus Sutra was read by a mind and body, Buddha predicts that the person becomes Buddha - nature certainly to a disciplinant.
 Much more because Nichiren read all Lotus Sutras by a mind and body, I can receive a huge benefit. Because Nichiren and my pupils are an ascetic of a Lotus Sutra, this thing is that they're very reliable for us.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
