通解（意訳）
「本仏」というのは「凡夫」であり、全ての生命の胸中に元来備わっている「真の仏の姿」である。「迹仏」というのは、釈尊の過去世の修行の姿を名付けた仏の名前であり、凡夫が仏の生命を理解するための「例えの姿」を「迹仏」というのである。
