「従藍而青」 - "From the indigo, an even deeper blue."

法華経の法門をきくにつけて・なをなを信心をはげむを・まことの道心者とは申すなり、
天台云く、「従藍而青」云云、此の釈の心は あい は葉のときよりも・なを そむれば・いよいよ あをし、
法華経は あい のごとし 修行のふかきは・いよいよ あをき が ごとし

通解（意訳）

法華経の教えを聞くごとにつけて、今よりさらに信心の修行に励むのを、真の信仰者というのである。
天台大師は「藍よりして而も青し（あい よりして しかも あおし）」といわれている。
この「従藍而青（じゅうらんにしょう）」の意味は、藍は葉の時よりも、繰り返し染めれば染めるほど、いよいよ青さが増していく、という意味である。
法華経は藍のようであり、修行が深いのは、藍が染めるに従って、ますます青くなるようなものである。

English Gosho
On hearing the teachings of the Lotus Sutra, makes even greater effort in faith is a true seeker of the way. 
T'ien-t'ai states,"From the indigo, an even deeper blue."
This Passage means that, if one dyes something repeatedly in indigo, it becomes even bluer than the indigo leaves.
The lotus Sutra is like the indigo, and the strength of one's practice is like the deepening blue.
