根ふかければ 枝さかへ 源 遠ければ流長しと 申して 一切の経は根あさく流ちかく 法華経は根ふかく源とをし、末代・悪世までも・つきず・さかうべし

通解（意訳）
木の根が深ければその枝は栄え、水源が遠ければ川の流れは長いと言われるように、法華経以外の諸教は根が浅く流れは近く、反対に法華経は根が深くその源は遠い。
信心強盛な方がいるからこそ、法華経は末法、悪世までも尽きることなく栄え、流布していくのである。
木の根が深ければその枝は栄え、水源が遠ければ川の流れは長いと言われるように、法華経以外の諸教は根が浅く流れは近く、反対に法華経は根が深くその源は遠い。
信心強盛な方がいるからこそ、法華経は末法、悪世までも尽きることなく栄え、流布していくのである。
English Gosho
The deeper the roots, the more luxuriant the branches. The farther the source, the longer the stream.
All sutras other than the Lotus Sutra have shallow roots and short streams, while the Lotus Sutra has deep roots and a distant source.
That is why the Great Teacher T’ien-t’ai stated that the Lotus Sutra would survive and spread even in the evil latter age.
