日蓮が悦び候のみならず釈迦仏 定めて御悦び候わん、
我則歓喜諸仏亦然は是なり

にちれんがよろこびそうろうのみならずしゃかぶつさだめておんよろこびそうらん、

通解（意訳）
今に始まったのではない御志、申し尽くしがたい。
日蓮が喜んでいるだけでなく、釈迦仏もきっとお喜びであろう。
法華経見宝塔品第１１に、「我（釈迦仏）は歓喜する。諸仏もまた同様である」とあるのはこれである。

This is not the first time you have shown such kindness and I do not know how to thank you. Not only am I, Nichiren, delighted, but I am sure that Shakyamuni Buddha is delighted as well. As the Lotus Sutra says, “I will surely rejoice and so will the other Buddhas.”

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
