一念に 億劫の辛労を尽せば 本来 無作の三身 念念に起るなり

通解（意訳）
一念に億劫（おくごう；仏教における時間の最長単位である｢劫（こう・ごう）｣の一億倍、永劫、永遠）にも匹敵する努力を尽くして仏道修行に励んでいけば、本来、自分自身に具わっている仏の生命（無作の三身。無作：むさ；本来の意、三身：さんじん；仏の三種類の特性）が、瞬間瞬間に起こってくるのである。
いわゆる南無妙法蓮華経と唱えていくことは、精進行である。

Gosho in English
If in a single moment of life we exhaust the pains and trials of millions of kalpas, then instant after instant there will arise in us the three Buddha bodies with which we are eternally endowed.
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is just such a “diligent” practice.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
