我が 弟子等 心みに 法華経の ごとく 身命も おしまず 修行して 此の度 仏法を 心みよ

本文 人に物をほどこせば 我が身のたすけとなる、 譬へば 人のために火をともせば・我が まへあきらかなるがごとし 食物三徳御書 （１５９８頁） 年月不明 通解（意訳） 人に物を施せば、かえって我が身を助けることに繋がる。 例えば、人のために灯をともしてあげれば、自分の前も明るくなるようなものである。 菩薩の心の信心 「人のため」（利他のため）だけを言うと、傲慢になる。「人を救ってあげている」偽善になる。 自分のためにもなっている事を自覚して、初めて『修行させてもらっている』『学ばせてもらっている』という謙虚さが出る。 自他不二です。 人のために尽くしただけ、自分の生命に福運が積まれる。これが『菩薩道』なのです。 - 池田大作 English Gosho  If one gives food to others, one will improve one’s own lot,  just as,  for example, if one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way. 湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

本文 何なる世の乱れにも各各をば法華経・十羅刹・助け給へと 湿れる木より火を出し 乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり いかなるよのみだれにもおのおのおばほけきょう・じゅうらせつ・たすけたまえとしめれるきよりひをいだしかわけるつちよちみずをもうけんがごとくごうじょうにもうすなり 呵責謗法滅罪抄 かしゃくほうぼうめつざいしょう （１１３２頁） 文永１０年 （１２７３年） 通解（意訳） どのような世の乱れが起きても、あなた方お一人お一人の弟子達の事を、「法華経・十羅刹女（あらゆる諸天善神）よ、彼らを守護し、助けたまえ」と、湿っている木に火を出し、乾いた土から水を出すような思いで、強盛に祈っている。 英語で御書 Gosho in English I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters* will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.  *the Ten Demon Daughters: The Goodness Gods, protection to The Believer of The Lotus Sutra. 蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.

予（よ） 少量為り（しょうりょう なり）と雖も（いえども） 忝くも（かたじけなくも）大乗（だいじょう）を学す 蒼蝿驥尾（そうよう きび）に附して（ふ して）万里を渡り（ばんり を わたり）碧蘿松頭（へきら しょうとう）に懸りて（かかりて）千尋を（せんじん を）延 ぶ、 弟子一仏の子と生れて諸経の王に事う（つかう）、何ぞ仏法の衰微（すいび）を見て心情の哀惜（あいせき）を起さざらんや。 立正安国論 （１７頁）　 文応元年七月 通解 私（日蓮）は器も小さく、とるに足りない人物ではあるけれども、かたじけなくも大乗仏教を学んでいる。 小さな青バエも、駿馬の尾につかまれば万里を渡ることができ、ツタは大きな松の木に寄れば、千尋も高く延びることができる、という譬えもある。 たとえ器は小さくとも、釈尊の弟子と生まれて、あらゆる経の王である法華経を信ずる以上、どうして仏法が衰弱しているのをみて、哀れ惜しむ心情を起こさないでいられようか。 English Translations " On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land " Though I may be a person of little ability, I have reverently given myself to the study of the Mahayana.
