後五百歳・広宣流布疑い無き者か、
若し爾れば 近きを以て遠きを推し現を以て当を知る
如是相 乃至 本末究竟等 是なり。

通解（意訳）
釈尊滅後の末法において、法華経の広宣流布を予言された事は疑いないものではないか。
もしそうならば、聖人とは、近い現在に起きている事柄や現象から遠い未来を推測し、宇宙の因果の法則に基づいて、現在をもって未来の当時（その時）を知ることができる、宇宙の因果の法則を正しく理解している者を指すのである。
法華経方便品の「如是相 〜 如是本末究竟等」の文は、このことである。

Can there then be any doubt about his prediction for the distant future, that in the last five-hundred-year period after his passing, the Lotus Sutra would spread abroad widely?
With such perception one can see the distant future by looking at what is close at hand. One can infer what will be from what exists in the present. This is the meaning of [the passage from the Lotus Sutra that says, “This reality consists of] the appearance . . . and their consistency from beginning to end.”
