予 少量為りと雖も 忝くも 大乗を学す
蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて 千尋を延ぶ、
弟子一仏の子と生れて諸経の王に事う、何ぞ仏法の衰微を見て心情の哀惜を起さざらんや
よ しょうりょう なり と いえども かたじけなくも だいじょう を がく す
そうよう きび に ふ して ばんり を わたり へきら しょうとう に かかりて せんじん を のぶ、
でし いちぶつ の こ として うまれて しょきょう の おう に つかう、なんぞ ぶっぽう の すいび を みて しんじょう の あいせき を おこさざらんや

通解（意訳）
私（日蓮）は器量も小さく取るに足らない人間ではあるとはいえ、かたじけなくも大乗仏教を学んでいる。
小さな青バエも、駿馬の尾につかまれば万里を渡ることができ、みどりのツル草は大きな松の枝先に寄り掛かれば、千尋も高く延びることができる、というたとえもある。
たとえ器は小さくとも、仏弟子である私は、第一の仏である釈尊の子と生まれて、あらゆる宗教の王である法華経に仕え信じている。
どうして仏法が衰弱していくのをみて、哀れ惜しむ心情を起こさないでいられようか。

Though I may be a person of little ability, I have reverently given myself to the study of the Mahayana.
A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
I was born as the son of the one Buddha, Shakyamuni, and I serve the king of scriptures, the Lotus Sutra. How could I observe the decline of the Buddhist Law and not be filled with emotions of pity and distress?
