悪象等は但身の怨と為り悪知識は善法の怨と為らん - A mad elephant is merely an enemy of your body, but an evil friend is an enemy of the good Law.

悪象等は 能く肉身を壊り 悪知識は 法身を壊る 悪象の為に殺されては 三趣に至らず 悪友の為に殺されては 必ず 三趣に至る
是の悪象等は 但 身の怨と為り 悪知識は 善法の怨と為らん 是の故に 菩薩 常に 当に 諸の悪知識を遠離すべし
あくぞう ら は よく にくしん を やぶり あくちしき は ほうしん を やぶる あくぞう の ため に ころされては さんしゅ に いたらず あくゆう の ために ころされては かならず さんしゅ に いたる
この あくぞうら は ただ み の あだ と なり あくちしき は ぜんほう の あだ と ならん このゆえ に ぼさつ つね に まさ に もろもろ の あくちしき を えんり すべし

通解（意訳）
凶暴な悪象などは、ただ肉体を破壊するだけである。しかし、悪い影響を及ぼす友人（悪知識）は、その人の身と心（法身）を破壊する。悪象のために殺されては三悪道に至らないが、悪友のために殺されては必ず三悪道に至るのである。
この悪象などはただ身の敵（かたき、敵）となるだけであるが、悪知識は善法の敵となる。このゆえに菩薩たちよ、常にもろもろの悪知識から離れるべきである。

A mad elephant can destroy the physical body, but an evil friend destroys the Dharma body. Even if you are killed by a mad elephant, you will not fall into the three evil paths. But if you are killed by an evil friend, you are certain to fall into them.
A mad elephant is merely an enemy of your body, but an evil friend is an enemy of the good Law. Therefore, bodhisattvas, you should at all times keep far away from evil friends.
