仏にやすやすとなる事の候ぞ・をしへ まいらせ候はん、
人の ものを をしふる と 申すは 車のおもけれども 油を ぬりてまわり・ふねを水にうかべて ゆき やすき やうに をしへ候なり、
仏になりやすき事は 別のやう候はず、
旱魃に かわけるものに 水をあたへ・寒冰に こごへたるものに 火を あたふる が ごとし

通解（意訳）
仏に安々と成れる方法を、教えて差し上げよう。
人がものを教えるというのは、車が重かったとしても、油を塗って車輪の回りをよくし、船を水に浮かべて、岸辺に行きやすくなるように教えるようなものである。
仏に成りやすい方法というのは、特別なことではない。干ばつの時、喉の渇いた者に水を与え、寒さに凍えた者に火を与えるようにすることである。

English Gosho
I will teach you how to become a Buddha easily. Teaching another something is the same as oiling the wheels of a cart so that they turn even though it is heavy, or as floating a boat on water so that it moves ahead easily.
The way to become a Buddha easily is nothing special.
It is the same as giving water to a thirsty person in a time of drought, or as providing fire for a person freezing in the cold.
