かかる者の弟子檀那とならん人人は 宿縁ふかしと思うて 日蓮と同じく法華経を弘むべきなり、法華経の行者と いはれぬる事はや不祥なり まぬかれがたき身なり

このような日蓮の弟子や檀那となる人々は、宿縁が深いと思って、日蓮と同じように法華経を広めるべきである。法華経の行者と言われるようになったことは、もはや不運なことであり、免れ難い身である。

Those who become Nichiren's disciples and lay believes should realize the profound karmic relationship they share with him and spread the Lotus Sutra as he does. Being known as a votary of the Lotus Sutra is a bitter, yet unavoidable,  destiny.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
