当に知るべし 三人に日蓮を入れ 四人と為して 法華経の行者 末法に有るか、喜い哉 況滅度後 の 記文に当れり 悲い哉 国中の諸人 阿鼻獄に入らんこと

一切の諸人之を見聞し志有らん人人は互に之を語れ。
法華行者逢難事

通解（意訳）
（日本のあらゆる衆生は、）今まさに知るべきである。教主釈尊、中国の天台大師、日本の伝教大師の三人の法華経の行者に日蓮を入れて四人として、日蓮こそ末法に出現した法華経の行者であることを。なんと喜ばしいことだろう、「況や滅度の後をや」の経文に我が身が当たっているのである。なんと悲しいことだろう、国中の人々が無間地獄に入るであろうことは。

全ての日蓮門下の人々は、この書をよく見聞きして、日蓮の弟子たる志ざしのある人々は、互いにこの手紙の内容について語りあいなさい。

 ＊況滅度後：
「悠多怨嫉・況滅度後」の一部。「釈尊が生きている時代であっても、怨み嫉む者が多かった」「釈尊の滅後は言うまでもなく、さらに法華経の行者は怨み、妬まれる」の意。

English Translations
" The Votary of the Lotus Sutra Will Meet Persecution "
Truly you should know that, adding Nichiren to the other three*, there is now a fourth votary of the Lotus Sutra who has appeared in the Latter Day of the Law. 
How glad I am to fulfill the words of prophecy from the sutra: “How much more will this be so after his passing?” How sad I feel that all the people of this country will fall into the Avīchi hell!

All my disciples and followers should read and listen to this letter. Those who are serious in their resolve should discuss it with one another.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
