日蓮が慈悲曠大ならば南無妙法蓮華経は万年の外・未来までもながるべし、
日本国の一切衆生の盲目をひらける功徳あり、無間地獄の道をふさぎぬ、
此の功徳は伝教・天台にも超へ竜樹・迦葉にもすぐれたり

通解（意訳）
「南無妙法蓮華経だけが、全世界のあらゆる人々を差別なく救い、自身の仏性に目覚め、自身の妙法の力で幸せをつかむことのできる、真実の法である。この妙法を一切衆生に弘めよう」 という、日蓮の慈悲の心が広大であるならば、南無妙法蓮華経は万年という時をも越えて、未来永遠に流布するに違いない。
 日本のあらゆる民衆の、暗く落ち込んでいる盲目の生命を開く功徳がある。無間地獄の道をふさいで、あらゆる苦しみの根源を断ち切るのである。
 この功徳は、過去に法華経の教えを説いた日本の伝教大師、中国の天台大師も超えて、さらにはインドの竜樹菩薩、釈迦の十大弟子の一人である、迦葉尊者よりも優れているのである。

English Gosho
 If Nichiren's compassion is truly great and encompassing, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo will spread for ten thousand years and more, for all eternity, for it has the beneficial power to open the blind eyes of every living being in the country of Japan, and it blocks off the road that leads to the hell of incessant suffering.

 Its benefit surpasses that of Dengyo and T'ien-t'ai, and is superior to that of Nagarjuna and Mahakasyapa.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
