世間の留難来るとも・とりあへ給うべからず、賢人・聖人も此の事はのがれず、ただ女房と酒うちのみて南無妙法蓮華経と・となへ給へ苦をば苦とさとり楽をば楽とひらき苦楽ともに思い合せて 南無妙法蓮華経とうちとなへゐさせ給へ

通解（意訳）
　世間の種々な難がおこっても、とりあってはいけない。賢人や聖人であっても、人生を生きる上で起こる困難からは逃れる事はできないのである。ただ女房と酒でも飲みかわして、南無妙法蓮華経と唱えていきなさい。

　苦しい時は苦しいままに、楽しい時は楽しいままに、苦しくても楽しくても南無妙法蓮華経と唱えきって、今世の人生を存分に楽しみなさい。

English Gosho
 Though worldly troubles may arise, never let them disturb you. No one can avoid problems, not even sages or worthies.

Drink sake only at home with your wife, and chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.  Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy what there is to enjoy. Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, no matter what happens.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
