日蓮が一類は 異体同心なれば 人人 すくなく 候へども 大事を成じて・一定 法華経 ひろまりなん と 覚へ候、悪は多けれども 一善に かつ事 なし、譬へば 多くの火 あつまれども 一水には きゑぬ

通解（意訳）
日蓮の一門は異体同心（いたいどうしん・人数は少ないが心は一つである）であるから、人数は少ないけれども、広宣流布という大事を成し遂げ、必ず法華経は広まるであろうと思うのである。悪は多くても、一善に勝つことはない。例えば、多くの火が集まっても、たった一水（一度の雨）で消えてしまうようなものである。

English Gosho
 Although Nichiren and his followers are few, because they are different in body, but united in mind *, they will definitely accomplish their great mission of widely propagating the Lotus Sutra.
 Though evils may be numerous, they cannot prevail over a single great truth, just as many raging fires are quenched by a single shower of rain. This principle also holds true with Nichiren and his followers.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
