とにかくに死は一定なり、其の時のなげきは・たうじのごとし、をなじくは・かりにも法華経のゆへに命をすてよ - In the end, no one can escape death. The sufferings at that time will be exactly like what we are experiencing now. Since death is the same in either case, you should be willing to offer your life for the Lotus Sutra.

 願くは我が弟子等・大願を をこせ、去年 去去年（こぞ おととし）の やくびやうに 死にし 人人の・かず にも 入らず、又 当時・蒙古の せめに・まぬかるべし とも みへず、

通解（意訳）
　願わくは、我が弟子たちは広宣流布という大願を起こしなさい。去年や一作年に起こった疫病で死んだ人々の数には入らなかったにしても、現在、蒙古（モンゴル帝国）が攻めてきた時に、死を免れることができるとは思えない。
　とにかく、どんな形であれ、人の死というものは、いずれ皆に平等に訪れるものであり、决定した（けつじょう した、決まった）事である。その時の嘆きや苦しみは、死の間際では全く同じ苦しみなのである。
　同じ死を迎える事が決定しているのであれば、「もしかしたら、自分の命は明日には無いかもしれない」と思い切って、法華経のために命を捨てなさい。
これこそ、露のような小さな生命を、法華経という大海に入れるように、また塵が妙法という大地に埋める事だと思いなさい。
　法華経のために命を捨てるということは、今世においては、最高に幸福な人生を送ることができ、最期にはまた、法華経の行者として誉れ高い死を迎えることができる。そして来世に於いてもまた法華経に縁して、法華経の行者として生まれてくることができるのである。
　このことは、法華経第三の巻化城喩品第七に「願わくは此の功徳を以って、普く一切に及ぼし、我等と衆生と、皆共に仏道を成ぜん」（願わくは、この法華経の功徳で、皆と平等に、共に仏道を成したい）と説かれているとおりである。

 My wish is that all my disciples make a great vow. We are very fortunate to be alive after the widespread epidemics that occurred last year and the year before. But now with the impending Mongol invasion it appears that few will survive. In the end, no one can escape death. The sufferings at that time will be exactly like what we are experiencing now. Since death is the same in either case, you should be willing to offer your life for the Lotus Sutra. 
 Think of this offering as a drop of dew rejoining the ocean [of the Lotus Sutra], or a speck of dust returning to the earth [of the Myoho].  A passage from the third volume of the Lotus Sutra reads, “We beg that the merit gained through these gifts may be spread far and wide to everyone, so that we and other living beings all together may attain the Buddha way.”
