鎌倉より京へは十二日の道なり、
それを十一日余り歩をはこびて今一日に成りて歩を さしをきては何として都の月をば詠め候べき
かまくら より きょう へ は じゅうに にち の みち なり、それを じゅういちにち あまり あゆみ を はこびて いま いちにち に なりて あゆみ を さしをきて は なんとして みやこ の つき をば ながめ そうろう べき

通解（意訳）
鎌倉から京都へは１２日の道のりである。それを１１日ほど歩いて、あと１日になって歩くのをやめてしまったら、どうして都の月をながめることができようか。
同じように、信心を始めたとしても、途中で信心をやめて退転してしまえば、成仏への直道を閉ざすばかりか、謗法という大罪を犯す事になるのである。

Interpretation (liberal translation) 
The faith also the same.
When you have stop the faith on the way even if you started the faith, it will be to commit the sin which slanders the Lotus Sutra [Nichiren Buddhism], as well as closing the way to attainment the Buddhahood.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
