通解（意訳）
鳥と虫とは、泣くといっても涙を落とすことはない。日蓮は泣かないが涙がひまなく止まらないのである。しかしこの涙は世間の事を考えて流す涙ではない。ただ、ひとえに法華経を弘めゆく使命に目覚めたゆえの、歓喜の涙なのである。

Birds and crickets cry, but never shed tears. I, Nichiren, do not cry, but my tears flow ceaselessly.
