菩薩 悪象等に於ては心に恐怖すること無かれ 悪知識に於ては怖畏の心を生ぜよ・

悪象の為に殺されては三趣に至らず 悪友の為に殺されては必ず三趣に至る

ぼさつ あくぞうら に おいて は こころ に きょうふ する こと なかれ あくちしき に おいて は ふい の こころ を しょうぜよ・

あくぞう の ため に ころされて は さんしゅ に いたらず あくゆう の ため に ころされては かならず さんしゅ に いたる

通解（意訳）

地涌の菩薩たちよ、狂暴な悪象等に対しては心に恐怖心を抱く必要はない。正法を信じていこうとする人の心を迷わす者（悪知識）に対しては、恐れる心を起こす必要がある。

その理由は、悪象に殺されても、地獄・餓鬼・畜生の三悪道（十界論の内、最下位の三界）におちることはないが、悪友に惑わされ、正法を信ずる心を殺されたならば、必ず三悪道におちるからである。

Bodhisattvas , have no fear of mad elephants. What you should fear are evil friends! . . .

Even if you are killed by a mad elephant, you will not fall into the three evil paths. But if you are killed by an evil friend, you are certain to fall into them.
