聖人の唱えさせ給う 題目の功徳と 我れ等が唱へ申す 題目の功徳と 何程の多少候べきやと云云、
更に勝劣あるべからず候、
其の故は 愚者の持ちたる金も 智者の持ちたる金も・愚者の然せる火も 智者の然せる火も 其の差別なきなり
しょうにん の となえさせ たもう だいもく の くどく と われら が となえ もうす だいもく の くどく と いかほど の たしょう そうろう べき や と うんぬん、
さら に しょうれつ あるべからず そうろう、
その ゆえ は ぐしゃ の もちたる こがね も ちしゃ の もちたる こがね も・ぐしゃ の ともせる ひ も ちしゃ の ともせる ひ も その さべつ なきなり

通解（意訳）
「聖人（賢人、智者）が唱えられる題目の功徳と、凡夫である私達が唱える題目の功徳とは、いかほどの違いがあるのでしょうか」とのご質問があったが、題目の功徳には勝劣や差別はなく、同じ功徳がある。
その理由は、愚者が持っているお金も、智者が持っているお金も、お金には変わりないように、または愚者が灯す火も、智者が灯す火も、火には変わりなく、その差別はないのである。

To reply, one is in no way superior to the other. 
The gold that a fool possesses is no different from the gold that a wise man possesses; a fire made by a fool is the same as a fire made by a wise man.

本文 人に物をほどこせば 我が身のたすけとなる、 譬へば 人のために火をともせば・我が まへあきらかなるがごとし 食物三徳御書 （１５９８頁） 年月不明 通解（意訳） 人に物を施せば、かえって我が身を助けることに繋がる。 例えば、人のために灯をともしてあげれば、自分の前も明るくなるようなものである。 菩薩の心の信心 「人のため」（利他のため）だけを言うと、傲慢になる。「人を救ってあげている」偽善になる。 自分のためにもなっている事を自覚して、初めて『修行させてもらっている』『学ばせてもらっている』という謙虚さが出る。 自他不二です。 人のために尽くしただけ、自分の生命に福運が積まれる。これが『菩薩道』なのです。 - 池田大作 English Gosho  If one gives food to others, one will improve one’s own lot,  just as,  for example, if one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way. 湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
