只須く汝仏にならんと思はば慢のはたほこをたをし忿りの杖をすてて偏に一乗に帰すべし、
名聞名利は今生のかざり我慢偏執は後生のほだしなり
ただ すべからく なんじ ほとけ に ならん と おもわば まん の はたほこ を たおし いかり の つえ を すてて ひとえ に いちじょう に き すべし、

通解（意訳）

あなたがただ仏になろうと思うならば、傲慢な心という旗鉾（はたほこ）を倒し、怒りという杖を捨てて、ただひとえに、仏に成る事ができる唯一の法（一乗）である法華経に帰依すべきである。
世間の評判や名誉（名聞名利）は今生だけの飾りであり、それらに自惚れ、固執（我慢偏執）していても、来世には何の役にも立たず、ただ成仏への足かせにしかならないのである。

Now, if you wish to attain Buddhahood, you have only to lower the banner of your arrogance, cast aside the staff of your anger, and devote yourself exclusively to the one vehicle of the Lotus Sutra.
Worldly fame and profit are mere baubles of your present existence, and arrogance and prejudice are ties that will fetter you in the next one.
