人是れを用いず 機に叶はずと云えども 強いて法華経の五字の題名を聞かすべきなり、是ならでは 仏になる道は なきが故なり

通解（意訳）
たとえ人が用いず、機根（きこん）に合わないといっても、あえて法華経の五字の題名（南無妙法蓮華経の題目）を聞かせるべきである。これでなくては、仏になる道はないからである。

English Gosho
 Although the people may not heed it or may say that it does not suit their capacity, one should nevertheless persist in expounding to them the five-character title of the Lotus Sutra[;Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo], because there is no other way than this to attain Buddhahood.

湿れる木より火を出し乾ける土より水を儲けんが如く強盛に申すなり - praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.

蒼蝿驥尾に附して万里を渡り 碧蘿松頭に懸りて千尋を延ぶ - A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.
